TECedge Team to deliver two sessions at the March 2009 ASCD Conference

October 1 , 2008 --

Cambridge, MA —TECedge staff will be delivering two talks related to Response to Intervention (RtI) at the 64th Annual Conference of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), to be held in Orlando, Florida.

TITLE: The RtI Data Dilemma: Understanding and Managing Critical Assessment Information
    DATE: Saturday, March 14, 2009
TIME: 8:00 am to 9:30 am

Response to Intervention success is predicated on timely access to a variety of assessment data: screenings/benchmarks to identify at-risk students; prescriptive/diagnostic assessments for students not attaining proficiency; progress monitoring tools to ascertain if interventions are working; and, outcome assessments to measure student progress against grade level expectations.

Once you have the data, now what? Practitioners discuss methods for analyzing root causes, proven assessment strategies, and data systems for designing, delivering, managing, and accessing critical information.

TITLE: Implementing Response to Intervention (RtI) Systemically
    DATE: Sunday, March 15, 2009
TIME: 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Is your RtI program effective? Practitioners share their insights from three year’s of RtI implementation. Hear first-hand knowledge about effective practices around the country. Explore critical strategies including: developing an RtI implementation plan; identifying leadership responsibilities; understanding how problem-solving teams should operate; delineating root causes; choosing appropriate interventions; using data and curriculum-based measurement to progress monitor; and, involving parents as allies.

Discover a practical approach for actualizing the belief that ALL children can learn.

Each presentation will be lead by noted experts and authors Sandy Patton and Bob Howell. They will be assisted by Marcia Kaplan on "The RtI Data Dilemma: Understanding and Managing Critical Assessment Information" and by John Kerr on "Implementing Response to Intervention (RtI) Systemically."

TECedge's RtI services can help you intervene before your students fail.
