Strategic Planning

TECedge's planning services guide district leadership through a structured process for developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans. TECedge team members work with your staff to develop a strategic plan which identifies WHAT should be done and a tactical plan which describes HOW to get things done.

We use the following planning process to develop a strategic plan:

  • Pre-planning
  • Best practices review
  • Development of vision/mission/goals
  • Needs assessment through environmental scanning and SWOT analysis
  • Identification of critical issues and strategic direction
  • Prioritization of strategic issues
  • Identification of program goals and objectives
  • Tools for managing and evaluating attainment of goals and objectives

The tactical plan is a blueprint for implementing projects across a District. It is a practical document, comprised of a series of implementation plans for managing district projects. Each goal identified in the strategic plan should have an associated action plan. Implementation plans should contain the following components:

  • Clearly defined goal statement for project (note all goals must be SMART)
  • Priority level of the goal/project
  • Strategy or Tactic
  • Measurable Objectives
  • Departmental/Leadership Responsibility
  • Action Steps
  • Timeline
  • Resources (personnel and financial)

District-wide, curriculum, and technology planning is undertaken in concert with your District’s continuous improvement strategy for achieving “greatness” (e.g., Baldrige, Collins, Deming, Sterling, etc.).

Massachusetts schools and libraries can obtain these services through the state's pre-qualified vendor list (ITS74ProjServ).
